Thomas, in his twenties, struggles to accept a breakup. He clearly has to learn to let go, because she has long forgotten him. However, Thomas does the exact opposite.
He leaves one voicemail after another in which he covers love songs for his ex in the hope that she will call back. After one such voicemail cover, he is suddenly called… by his mother. And a pizzeria. The disappointment that it's not Charlotte calling hurts him and it becomes clear to Thomas that his hopes are in vain. An unexpected conversation with the pizza delivery girl also reminds him of who he was before his relationship.
When Thomas is called for a third time that same evening, he doubts for the first time whether he wants to answer at all. He sees his futile effort and decides to ignore that phone call.
