A wide plain. A river flows through the landscape. A flock of flamingos are sunbathing on the quay, when an egg suddenly comes floating. The egg hatches and a flamingo chick appears. A blue chick, named Blue, is born. The flamingo troop wants nothing to do with Blue. However, he wants to be loved, so he tries to turn himself pink.
He tries spreading pink berry juice over his feathers, plucking his feathers, knitting a pink sweater but all of it fails. Blue is defeated but makes one last attempt.
The flamingos leave for the voyage. Blue arrives in a pink feather suit and flies after the troop. Blue feels like he finally found his place among the other Flamingos. However, he crashes against a mountain and falls down into a forest. The flamingos disappear from sight and Blue is alone again. Then suddenly all kinds of birds in different colors and sizes come from behind the leaves and jungle. The birds smile and sing to Blue. He has found his home.
